One of the biggest recent events in the music world, produced and organized by Robin George and Damage Control Music, took place at Robannas Recording Studios in Birmingham, England. In the 80s Robin George single-handedly ushered in techno AOR, a whole new genre of rock, and now he's bringing us a welcome alternative to today's tired wannabe culture. Stars from the huge, forthcoming Damage Limitation project gathered at the weekend to record some of the stunning songs which will feature on the soon to be released CD and so far involves 40 of the best known stars in the worlds of rock and Soul.

Saturday's session had Queen of Soul Jaki Graham rubbing shoulders with Wild Man of Rock Pete Way, 70s popstar Daniel Boone singing alongside rockers, Marshall Law and Emmerdale's favourite copper, Freya Copeland belting out harmonies next to Quireboys' tearaway frontman, Spike. Meanwhile, pop princess, ViX conducted a choir of 50 schoolkids, drawing applause from assembled stars and Geri Minelli's Women in Music choir was besieged by members of the press, eager for the chance to add their voices to what is clearly set to be one of the must have albums of 2009.

`The initial idea was a simple one,' explains Robin, `To put out a charity single, `LovePower and Peace' featuring some of the artists I've worked with in the past for the benefit of deserving charities…but this project has taken on a life of its own. Every time I approached one artist they suggested another incredible talent who was eager to join the cause. They're all far too good to turn down!' It seems obvious that the enthusiasm and dedication of the stars to this fabulous project which will benefit deserving charities needs to be recognized. Isn't it time the music industry stood up for real musicians?
